As we step into this sacred weekend, I find myself reflecting on the significance of Good Friday, Silent Saturday, and Easter Sunday. Each of these days holds such deep meaning, not only in the story of Christ’s sacrifice but also in the hope and victory we celebrate in His resurrection. This time of year always invites me to pause and reflect on what it truly means to walk through seasons of grief, uncertainty, and renewal. For me, it's a reminder of the love Christ showed on the cross and the incredible promise that Easter brings. As we walk through this special time of year together, I wanted to share a bit of my own heart with you, reflecting on the sacrifice, the quiet waiting, and the ultimate victory we have in Him.

Good Friday: The Weight of His Love

Good Friday always takes me to a quiet place of remembrance. It’s the day we reflect on the unimaginable pain Jesus endured on the cross, not for His own sake, but for ours. I remember the weight of that sacrifice—the love that held Him there, the willingness to lay down His life so that we might be made whole.

Every year, I find that Good Friday is a time for me to pause and feel the depth of His love. I think about my own struggles and weaknesses, and yet, Jesus chose to take the punishment for them. It's humbling. It's personal. And it’s a love I’ll never fully understand, but I am so thankful for it.

This Good Friday, I’m leaning into Scripture and using the SOAP Bible study method to guide my reflections. I find that it helps me engage with God's Word in a more intentional, personal way. When I take the time to stop, read, observe, apply, and pray through the Scriptures, I feel a deeper connection to what Jesus did for me.

Scripture: John 19:30 – “When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished.' And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”
Observation: Jesus’ final words remind me that everything was completed on the cross—there’s nothing left for me to do but receive His gift of grace.
Application: Today, I will reflect on how Christ’s sacrifice has changed my life and how I can live out His love more fully.
Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for your ultimate sacrifice. Help me to live in a way that honors what You’ve done for me.

Silent Saturday: Waiting in the Silence

After the grief of Good Friday, Silent Saturday always feels like a pause—a moment of quiet waiting. For the disciples, the Saturday between the cross and the resurrection was a time of deep confusion and sorrow. They didn’t understand yet that Jesus would rise again; they were stuck in the silence, unsure of what would come next.

I can relate to that. There have been seasons in my life where I’ve been stuck in a kind of “waiting room”—uncertain of the future, unsure of God’s plan, but still trusting that He was at work. Silent Saturday is a reminder that even in the quiet, God is moving. Sometimes, we have to wait, sit in the silence, and trust that our story is still being written.

As I sit in a space of waiting, I am reminded of how much I need God's Word to carry me through. The SOAP method helps me reflect on how God is speaking to me in these quieter seasons of life, even when things feel uncertain.

Scripture: Psalm 27:14 – “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Observation: Waiting is hard, but it’s in those moments that God strengthens us.
Application: I will trust that God’s timing is perfect, even when I don’t understand.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to wait well, to trust in Your timing, and to find peace even in the silence.

Easter: The Resurrection and the Promise of New Life

Then comes Easter Sunday. The day of resurrection. The day of new beginnings. The day that changed everything.

I’ll never forget the moment I truly grasped the significance of the resurrection. It’s not just an event that happened 2,000 years ago; it’s the foundation of my faith. Jesus’ victory over death means that I, too, can live in victory. It means that no matter what we face in life, death is not the end—there is always the hope of new life in Christ.

Easter is a celebration of that new life, and I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude. The resurrection reminds me that every day is a new opportunity to live in the freedom Christ has given us. And that’s why, each year, I use this time to reflect on how I can walk in that new life more fully. This Easter, I want to be more intentional in seeking God, more grateful for His sacrifice, and more aware of the joy He brings into every part of my life.

Scripture: Matthew 28:6 – “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.”
Observation: Jesus’ resurrection is proof that God’s promises are always true.
Application: I will live with the joy and hope of the resurrection, knowing that God’s promises are faithful and sure.
Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for defeating death and giving me new life. Help me to walk in that freedom every day.
