Have you ever planted a sunflower?
Hello friend!
So happy you are here. I just wanted to share a little summer encouragement with you.
I found a little seed kit at the dollar section of Target. I gave it to my daughter, Jane, on the first day of Spring. It was so simple, we added water, pushed the sunflower seeds into the dirt, and soon had little sprouts.
I was amazed. I have to admit I had low expectations. I blame living the last decade of my life in NYC and being completely devoid of gardening.
Once the sunflower grew its second set of leaves we took the plant outside and planted our seedlings in the flower bed.
The flowers grew and grew, and now they are over 6 feet high and very awkwardly too big for the flower beds.
If you have ever grown sunflowers, you might think I am crazy for my low expectations of my sunflowers. My mom said, “That's why you plant them in a field.”
Either way, I grossly underestimated how big they would grow.
...
Have you been underestimating God lately?
I think we all underestimate our God-given potential, we underestimate His love for us, and we underestimate His infinite power.
Look at how much purpose God fit in that little sunflower seed. I can’t help but think of all the potential He has pressed into you. You are filled with purpose. To be the hands and feet of Jesus, to help that new stranger, to change the atmosphere of a room, to show love and kindness, to help change the subject, and to shine the light of grace.
Your Father loves you so deeply. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21
Have a wonderful week! Keep growing! Keep going!
God is not done with you yet.
You.Are.Loved.
